About Us

Jared Pohl

ECP Asset Management is an independent, Australian-based fund manager specialising in high-conviction growth equity strategies. The firm was founded in 2012 on the one simple belief that the underlying economics of a business drive its long-term investment returns. More than a decade later, that belief still shapes everything we do.

From our first strategy in Australian equities, we have grown steadily. Initially in the institutional space, we launched our Global Growth strategy in 2020. In 2023 we made it available to offshore investors through an Irish-domiciled fund (a UCITS), and in 2024 we launched the ECP Private Growth Fund to provide growth capital to later-stage private companies. Today we manage billions for institutional, wholesale and retail investors from our offices in Sydney and London.

Across every strategy, our approach is the same. We build concentrated portfolios of capital-efficient, high-performing growth companies: businesses that are highly profitable, growing organically, not reliant on debt, and run by management teams who have delivered on what they said they would do. We would rather own a smaller number of companies we understand deeply than many we understand only partly, and we intend to own them for a long time.

How we run the firm matters as much as how we invest. Our beliefs and process come first. Ideas are judged on their merit, not on who raised them, and every member of the team is expected to contribute and to challenge. We hold ourselves to high ethical standards and would always choose to sleep well over eating well: we'd rather give up a return than earn it in a way we couldn't defend. We take a genuinely long-term view of our relationships with clients, with colleagues and with the companies we invest in. We value diverse ways of thinking, and we work to build a culture of mutual respect where different ideas, perspectives and skills are recognised.

When we founded ECP, we made our clients three promises. We will never speculate to generate returns. We will buy high-quality businesses and hold them for the long term rather than trade them. And we will not diversify to cover up for poor research. Alongside these, we believe active investing should be understood, not mysterious. We aim to explain clearly where we invest our clients' money, why, and what it means for their wealth over the long term.
